Ms Ritterstein is a career Independent Court Interpreter certified in California and New York. She has brought together her expertise in court interpreting, generative grammar linguistics, and cross-cultural communication to help attorneys connect with their Spanish speaking clients by bridging their cultural and linguistic differences.
Miss Ritterstein's novel approach has helped in dozens of cases by facilitating the clients' understanding of the American justice system, the role of each participant in the courtroom, but most importantly their counsel's advise.
Why Court Interpreting alone is not enough.
The current rules for Court Interpreters restricts the role of the interpreter exclusively to language interpretation under the theory of language conduit.
However, there are a multitude of cultural, linguistic and emotional layers to communication beyond language. But the interpreter, when provided by the courts, is unable step outside of language bounds, often resulting in a disconnect between counsel and their client.
